the Stanley Cup

made a brief appearance here yesterday. Brian Burke is part owner of our WHL hockey team so he brought it to town. Jim and i were able to sneak off to the mall to get a glimpse of it and a few pictures. it was an absolute zoo-hard to get a good picture but we got to see it and that's all that matter

good timing too. we weren't there five minutes before they packed it up and whisked it away.

snack saturday

Chocolate & Peanut Butter Ribbon Dessert

2/3 cup OREO Baking Crumbs
2 Tbsp. non-hydrogenated margarine, melted
1 pkg.(250 g) Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cupPeanut Butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
3 cups thawed Whipped Topping
2 squares Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted

1 COMBINE crumbs and margarine (setting aside 1 Tbsp. of crumbs for topping); press onto bottom of foil-lined 9x5-inch loaf pan.

2 MIX cream cheese, peanut butter, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gently stir in the whipped topping. Spoon 1/2 cup of the cream cheese mixture into small bowl. Stir in melted chocolate until well blended; set aside. Spoon half of the remaining cream cheese mixture over crust. Top evenly with chocolate mixture; cover with remaining cream cheese mixture.

3 FREEZE 4 hours or overnight until firm. Invert onto plate. Remove foil, then re-invert onto serving platter so that crumb layer is on bottom. Sprinkle with reserved 1 Tbsp. crumbs.

woo hoo! driveway is done and it looks AMAZING! today was a looooooooong day, we ended off all the hard work with a trip to the waterslides(and i forgot my camera :( )

card friday

but not mine. received this from my friend Cindy in Alberta. thanx Cindy!

i'm grumpy

was working on a customer quilt today. i could not get the wrinkles out of the backing-i steamed and steamed the fabric and no go. two rolls into the quilt and i discovered the pleat through the backing. i'm now reverse stitching.

and Jim's brother was supposed to arrive tonight so they could get started on the driveway in the morning. he has now decided that they are coming down tomorrow sometime in the afternoon. not impressed. i'm really grumpy

happy birthday Mom

i'm thrilled with how this one turned out. this is the biggest customer quilt i've done. i used an Aurifil thread and Blossom quilting pattern by Lorien Designs. i loved the *movement* in the pattern-was fun to quilt

here's a close up-will have to take another as this one is very blurry

double the fun

finished up the baby quilts i started when we were on holidays. by not reading the instructions, i ended up cutting enough fabric for a twin sized quilt(not sure how i had that much fabric as i did buy for the baby quilt size lol) so i ended up with 2 boy quilts and 2 girl ones. i did end up running out of the jungle print in the boy quilts-not enough for borders on both quilts. so i put it on the top and bottom of each quilt and will pick up one of the greens in the print to finish off the sides. this boy quilt has an orange inner border, the other one has the royal blue.

funnily enough, i had enough fabric to finish off the girl quilts. its amazing how using the same pattern and just different colors can make the quilts look so different. the girl quilt is really large, the border was supposed to be 6.5inches-i cute it 3.75 and i may trim it down a bit more.

i love how soft the girl quilt turned out and the brightness of the boys. with finishing these, i now have 7 of my own projects waiting to be longarm quilted-i'm getting very swamped lol!

snack saturday

one of my favorite summer recipes. and just to let you know, last weeks Snack Saturday was delicious! i made if for a baby shower this week and it was a hit

Fruit Trifle

36 NILLA Wafers(i've used white cake and just cubed it)
2 Tbsp. orange-flavored liqueur or orange juice
3 cups seasonal fresh fruit, such as sliced peeled kiwi, blueberries and/or sliced strawberries
3 cups cold milk
2 pkg.Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
1 pkg. (6 squares) White Baking Chocolate, melted, cooled slightly
1 tub (8 oz.) Whipped Topping, thawed, divided

BREAK wafers coarsely into 2-1/2-qt. clear glass serving bowl. Sprinkle with liqueur; top with layers of fruit.
POUR milk into medium bowl. Add dry pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 min. or until well blended. Refrigerate until pudding starts to thicken. Add chocolate; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Gently stir in half of the whipped topping. Spoon over fruit; top with the remaining whipped topping.
REFRIGERATE at least 30 min. or up to 24 hours before serving. Store leftover dessert in refrigerator.

grumble grumble

did my first customer quilt in a while today. the quilt was not put together well(lots of fullness, backing *just* fit the quilt, borders not straight) it was a real challenge! i'm not going to show you a full picture of the quilt lol. i quilted it using Wrought Iron by WillowLeaf

card friday

i've run out of envies for regular sized cards so i've been on a long and tall kick lol. have a great Friday!

thanx to

Dawn for awarding me a Rockin Girl Blogger Award!

My five nominations are

Barb-she does amazing scrapbooking and has two adorable boys that are the focus of most of her papercrafting creations

Lisa who's talent amazes me with her quilting and other crafts

Crunchy Carpets-i love her point of view(most of which i agree with lol!) her writing style is fantastic and the stories her kids come up with keep me laughing

Kai-now she's been nominated a few times but i'm pretty sure her ego can handle another nomination ;) lol! Kai seriously does rock

and lastly,
Paper Possiblities i stumbled across Lesa's blog a few months back. i LOVE her style of stamping and the colors she uses. always stunning creations to be found

happy 96th birthday Grandpa!

we had a big birthday bash for Grandpa last year-this year is just a quiet family dinner. here is the card i made him and a picture from last years party

demolition zone

had our driveway torn out yesterday. Jim's brother Joe will be here next week to put the new concrete in. couldn't get the removal timed closer to the concrete pour date but don't care. i'm thrilled we are finally getting this done!

wordless wednesday

was able to spend time on Sunday getting some cards done. sure was great to get back at it again! i seem to be on an orange kick lately lol. this is still one of my favorite stamps. in the card background, i've stamped it with SU's crosshatch

snack saturday

i haven't tried this yet but am having a BBQ next weekend that i will make this for

Raspberry Ganache Pie

2POUR into crust; cover. Refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.

3ARRANGE raspberries on top of pie. Microwave remaining 1/4 cup jam and the water in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 30 sec.; stir until well blended. Brush over raspberries. Refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving. Store any leftover pie in refrigerator.

home sweet home

and its soooo good to be home! will resist not posting a million pictures-just the highlights lol!

trip was great up until Tuesday-we hit a deer with our truck :(. physically we are fine-it was pretty scary. truck is being towed from Kamloops back here for repairs-hopefully that won't take too long. deer was killed-amazing amount of damage most of which is engine related(radiator blew, engine fan warped into the engine)

did a day trip out to Wells Gray Park to see the waterfalls. amazing! will be sharing more of those pictures on Wordless Wednesdays

i continued my fishing queen reign with catching 3 fish(lost one when it snapped my line) A and M each caught one as well

did get a bit of quilting done-realized when i was sewing the rows together that i had cut(and sewn) enough blocks to make a twin sized quilt so i ended up with 4 baby quilts-2 boys, 2 girls. probably a good thing since we've had 2 more upcoming baby announcements in the past week lol!

card friday

a card from my dear friend Nancy. and yes, we are home!

card friday

all packed and ready to go

on our family vacation tomorrow. we rented a cabin at a lake up in the 100 Mile House area of BC. was a bit stressful packing for this one since we won't be near any stores(about a 2hour drive to the closest) so anything we've forgotten, we have to live without for the next week lol. also the resort called yesterday and with the snowpack melting so quickly, they are under a boil water alert so we stocked up on bottled(and jugged) water at the store tonight.

looking forward to a week of lazying on the beach, lazing in the boat(i am the reigning fishing queen and have a title to uphold lol!!)but just in case i get bored, i've packed my sewing machine. i have 2 baby quilts cut out and ready to go-a boy one and a girl one, using the same pattern.

hope you all have a wonderful week, i'm posting this weeks *card Friday* tonight in case i don't get a chance in the morning.

remember i posted about buying an APQS quilting machine-the Lenni? well, i'm not now. i was the second person to buy one(submitted my order June 1st when it was launched). i got a letter from APQS middle of June saying my delivery date would be the third week of August-woo hoo! but than i got a letter on Tuesday saying that at the earliest my machine would be here towards the end of September-what?!?!? gave them a call today and they aren't even built yet and that's the end of it. so my options were/are either wait(and the person i spoke to figured it would be as late as October) or cancel the order. neither option works-mom and i have a stack of quilts and we NEED the second machine.

than i get a phone call from my APQS dealer and she offers me the sweetest deal so i jumped at it. a Liberty machine, hardly used and i can have it as soon as we get back from holidays(and i drive up the hill to pick it up lol!)

i'm in love

at the shop we've had these cans of 505 adhesive spray-no one buys them. i was wondering if it really worked. so i brought a can home yesterday to try out. it's quite easy to use-spray the back of your quilt top than place that on the batting. than i sprayed my backing and sandwiched it all together. it worked like a dream! was so nice to do meandering and not be worried about running into any pins while sewing away-i'm sold!

Rose, the pattern is from the March 2007 issue of McCall's Quick Quilts
