crafting

I've done hardly any crafting this year for Christmas, I haven't even made a single gift yet. I'm only planning on one so I'm not panicking but it's still weird lol.

I've been looking at these on Pinterest all year and finally made one.

I love how it looks. So different from a usual wreath. I almost bought a bigger frame and now that it's on the door, I'm glad I went with this smaller one(it's an 8x10)

I did make myself a new table runner with the leftover from my Ribbon Star quilt.

I had a wee bit of an accident on Monday; I sliced the tip of my right index finger open. Of course I am right handed so this has made some things a little interesting.  I'm hoping it heals soon since I can't do any hand sewing right now.

crafting

I went on a girls day a few weeks ago. Every girls trip has to involve craft stores right? We made a quick stop in Michaels when I spotted a fabulous burlap wreath. So I bought all the supplies and couldn't wait to get started.

I cut what seemed like a gazillion 6inch squares. I should have taken a picture of the mess that made!

I took each square and folded it, like a paper fan, twisted it,

And shoved it into the straw wreath.

Do that a gazillion times and you get this.

Keep doing that until you run out of pin or burlap. Not that that happened here ;)

Guess I have a stop to make after work tonight.

3 days to go

And I'm putting away the unfinished gifts and just going to enjoy the rest of the pre-Christmas excitement. I met up with my friend Andrea earlier this week and I gave her this wreath

The colors are perfect for Andrea's house. I used a different shaped wreath this time and I love how it looks so full and dimensional. These make such great gifts.

annnnnnnnd it's a wrap!

I got the last two customer quilts done this afternoon and that wraps my year of quilting-woo hoo! I am shocked I got them all done and on time even! To celebrate, a friend and I made these little cuties this afternoon.

don't take a picture on the piano when someone is playing the piano.

I finished a long ago started renovation project,

I'm looking very forward to finally getting to hang my Luna Notte wreath in it's proper home.

Stay tuned.

welcome 2011

Obviously I never got back here to post the Christmas quilties I had made. We had a small party New Years Eve(too much fun!) and than Saturday was spent recovering(we didn't even get out of bed until almost noon lol). Put away all the Christmas decorations and had my parents over for dinner; it was a lovely way to start the new year.

I didn't get as many things made this year as I had hoped but I did get everything completed.

My mom has always admired my fabric wreath, I had planned to have the boys do one for her for Christmas. Until I discovered that she made one. I quickly went to plan B and had the boys do one with a Christmas theme.

I can't tell you what fabric line was used; the fabrics are from a sample scrap bag. We used all the cream prints on the inside ring and than alternated red and green through the middle two. The outer ring is the darker cream/tan prints. I love how it turned out.

My favoritest quiltie I made this Christmas was for Cindy. Cindy loves pears and she has always admired a pear quilt that I have. In November I discovered a beautiful pear fabric that matched Cindy's kitchen; it was perfect!

I didn't think this would get finished in time. Monday of Christmas week, J got sick. The next day it hit B, than Wednesday morning was my turn, than Jim. That night A came down with it. Thankfully we were all better by Christmas Eve and I ran off to work to get Cindy's quilt quilted.

I stippled in the middle around the pears and did a continuous curve in the 9patch blocks. The black border got a loopy meander. Now I think I need to make a new one for myself.

Tomorrow, I'll show you a few more.

finishes

A few months back, Rachel did a Fabric Wreath Tutorial for Moda Bake Shop and I knew I had to make it.

I finally grabbed a wire wreath last week. I didn't have a honey bun but I did have a layer cake that I had started cutting into 1.5inch strips so I continued cutting it to use that.

I finished the wreath the other night and I soooooo love it! I cut my strips 5inches long, not 5.5 like Rachel did. And I ended up putting in a few of the skinny leftover strips from the layer cake to add a bit more fullness in a few spots. But I think it's perfect! And it goes perfect on an empty wall I have been trying to find something to put on.

I also finished the top on my last sock monkey quilt. I got 3 baby quilts out of the one fat quarter stack. I got the stack on sale for around $30; a true bargain!

What's even better is that I found enough flannel in my stash for the backing so I didn't have to join a bunch of fabric bits together-yay!

paper bag album

we had a Close To My Heart event at my church last night. we made these cute paper bag albums. i have no idea what to do with mine.i've done one before and gave that one away.

front and back

thanx for all your comments! i found a great tutorial here have fun and if you do one, post a link to show me

my crafting space

my apologies for not having anything crafty and exciting to post this week. Jim is gone again(been in San Diego since Sunday afternoon) and i'm exhausted lol. why is it that the closer the end of school gets, the more activities the school has the kids do? but i have to say, i am a very proud mommy to say that J was invited to attend the city-wide math challenge tomorrow. it's open to all students in grades 5, 6 and 7-J is in grade 4 and was invited to attend. i was told today that he was tested and he is able to do grade 7 math with no problems! he doesn't get that from me lol!

so i thought i would show a picture of my craft space. i've probably shown this before but if i've forgotten, maybe you have too lol!! this is my table. i LOVE this table. it's counter top height so my back doesn't hurt for leaning over it. 99% of the time i stamp standing up lol. the bins on the end hold all my *loose* stamps and my unmounteds. the bins under the table hold all my leftover fabric scraps that i have deemed still usable lol!

my cardstock and paper is all in the tub in the bottom(sorted by color). the plastic bin on top of that contains all my fibres and prima flowers. the three blue boxes hold my stamp pads and adhesives, scissors etc.
yes, that is my sad collection of SU stamps. i do have an order currently waiting at my SU *dealer*(heehee!) and i have another order ready to place too! the tins on top are cards i've made and the wicker basket next to them hold cards i've received

paper bag album

found these while looking at old pictures on Jim's computer. made this a few years ago in a class and gave it to one of my cousins. closest i have come to scrapbooking yet!

altered lunchbox #2

i love how differently it looks from the first one. i still want to get some red ribbon to match the red on the paper and will add that to the handle

the saying on the front is a sticker i found while cleaning out my paper stash

altered lunchbox

i would have had this finished last night if i had talked less and worked more(lol) i am thrilled with how it came out-I've started a second one for myself as well for the cards i have received(this one is for cards I've made)

i printed off a template for the top and it didn't fit right(our handles were wider apart) so i spent some time today fiddling with a template of my own and i think its a perfect fit(if you are interested in a copy of the template, let me know and i can email it to you)

than A took a tall box i had and he did this one
