wordless wednesday

I scheduled this post yesterday. At this moment, I'm more than likely scrambling around packing the last odds and ends for our family camping trip. To our favorite lake in the middle of nowhere. No cell phones, internet or TV for the next 10days. How will we survive?? lol!!

I'm sure the movie premiere last night was fantastic. How could it not be? The theater is an hour or so from our place; we don't expect to get home until around 3am. Than up early(eek!) to pack up and head out. It could be a grumpy car ride for me ;) Today is also B's 10th birthday. I'm already tired just typing this out!

I have no posts scheduled other than this one while we are away. I wish all my Canadian readers a Happy Canada day and a happy 4th of July to all my American ones.

See you in 10 days!!!

PS-I had to post a reaction to the movie. I didn't like it *sob*. I'm heartbroken; my favoritest book of the Twilight series and I didn't like the movie. I'm hoping I was just too overtired(we did sit through all 3 Twilight movies!) and the theater was unbelievalby hot(they couldn't get the a/c working). Fingers crossed I feel differently when I see it after our trip. I can't explain what I didn't like; I just didn't like it :(

it's today! it's today!!!!!

Going with a group of my besties tonight to the Eclipse opening. And we aren't just seeing Eclipse. We get to watch Twilight, than New Moon THAN Eclipse!!! 7.5HOURS of movie enjoyment!! WOO HOO! And tomorrow we leave bright and early(lol!!!) for our holidays-fun times ahead!

meet Hoot and Annie

While at Quilts Canada, my sister in law Erica and I found this adorable owl pattern. A few days into the show, we decided to buy it and go owl crazy.

The most exciting part may have been getting to play with the Texture Magic. You layer the texture magic with fabric and batting and than quilt on it. I decided to do a grid pattern. The first one I drew out; for the second I winged it.

Than you quilt it.

Now the fun part; shrinking. The info on the texture magic said it would shrink up to 30%; we felt it didn't shrink as much as we had expected. Still it was pretty neat.

Than it was owl cutting time. Lots of cutting. Have to love Erica's eager helper.

Sadly, this was a far as we got before exhaustion kicked in. Hey, we worked hard at Quilts Canada! Erica said to leave the owls with her and she would finish them.

Than Tuesday, I got a package in the mail. Inside, two Annies

.

Erica did awesome. Look at what she accompished! Hoot and Annies for everyone!!

Hoot is the taller, skinner owl. Annie the other.

I love how many the pattern made. With a few extra fat quarters, Erica got all these done.

Erica sent something extra with my Annies.

Looks like I have some sewing to do ;)

size does matter

How many of you have a 12inch square ruler? Okay, it's 12.5 inches; do you have any idea how many times I have forgotten that extra half inch and screwed up what I was cutting? ugh.

Anyways, I have always found that the 12(and a half!!)inch ruler just not big enough for some projects. So than I end up using that ruler with my long 6x24inch ruler and than the fun begins with trying to keep everything straight and not end up cutting off a thumb or finger.

Than I saw a new ruler; a 20inch ruler. I got so excited; it was the answer to all my awkward cutting dreams!

Yesterday this huge package arrived. I could not for the life of me figure out WHAT was in this box.

Can you believe how big this ruler is??

It's HUGE!!

Way bigger than I had thought it would be.

You can sort of make out my black 12.5inch ruler on top of the 20inch one. Massive difference; too big of a difference!!

So today I order the 16.5inch ruler lol!

quilt monday

Sorry for the delay in posting this today. Raced home from work(where I got to spend most of my afternoon unquilting 2 rows in my customer quilt.) for our last piano lessons, than threw a quick dinner together than got moving on the teacher gifties. Which I am happy to report are currently having their binding sewn on. Well, not literally right now since I'm posting here lol.

The picture quality isn't the greatest; I wish I had remembered to take these earlier when it was light out!

This quilt makes me so happy! I love the colors in this fabric line; perfect for baby.

Quilted with ABC and a yummy Genziana cotton thread.

i loves it

Joanne pieced this stunning quilt. I haven't seen this fabric line before(anyone know what line it is? would love to get my hands on some of it!) I LOVE the colors!!

Quilted with Daisies and Loops and KingTut thread.

call me crazy

but don't really because it would hurt my feelings.

When I was at Quilts Canada, Jen brought fabric for use on the longarm machines. Beautiful wide-back Portobello Market Fabric.

After the show, Jen was going to toss the used fabric in the garbage. WHAT? I quickly said I would take it. It would be the perfect backing fabric for my Pinwheel Sampler, so I brought it home.

I have slowly, oh so slowly lol, been ripping out the stitches. It measures 10ft long and 54inches wide.

Lots and lots AND LOTS of stitches to take out.

Anyone want to come help?

2 hours

From this,

To this.

wedding quilt

Kim made this for a friend of her's who got married. I did this quilt for mom for Christmas. Kim made her's bigger but requested the same pattern(Fire Flower) and thread that I had done on mom's.

I love how Kim used some of the fabric to create the label; perfection!

stuffs

Had a fabulous weekend with lots of time with friends, a fantastic BBQ, and yesterday, lots of quilting time.

There were 2 babies born in our church in the past 2 weeks; so I am back on baby quilt production. I had some classic Winnie the Pooh fabric left that I had wanted to use up. I went with a super easy 4patch quilt; I think the simplicity works with the timelessness of the Winnie the Pooh.

I hit my LQS' Saturday sale and got some Frolic for the next baby quilt. I love the bright colors in this line.

Today was the first Monday I've worked in a month. I'm going to attempt to take the entire month of July off so I've increased my work hours again to get all my customer quilts out. With all the end of the year activities, teacher gifts to make(I remembered those on the weekend lol), my calendar is looking rather frantic. Always seems to be the way when school comes to a close.

My highlight of today was a message I received from Rachel of PS I Quilt. Back in October, Rachel approached me about having me quilt a quilt for her that she was sending in to Irish Quilting Magazine. Of course I said yes!

A few weeks later, this beautiful quilt arrived. I quilted it up and shipped it back to Rachel and we waited. And waited. And waited.

And today, here it is.
I borrowed this picture from Rachel; I simply love the sheep in the background!

Thanx again Rachel for such a great opportunity!

You can read more about Rachel's quilt, and see better pictures, here.

I picked these quilt tops up from Hamels one afternoon just after 4:30pm. And had them quilted and delivered back at 4pm the next afternoon.

Yes, they are all little but I think it was still impressive.

Frolic

Flower Fairies

Jungle Friends

And some older Hamels ones I hadn't shown yet. Both great manly quilts.

Quilted with Deer in the Woods. Love the pattern on this one.
