quilt monday

Finally finished boy2's quilt binding on the weekend; it's been just too hot to spend time under a warm cozy quilt finishing miles of binding.

I couldn't be happier with how this turned out. And the quilting. I love how the quilting works with the quilt.

I used a dark navy thread and a snuggly flannel for the backing.

Isn't the dead grass lovely? lol

sometimes

All you need is a spontaneous gift for a friend to bring back your sewing mojo.

client quilts

I've been working hard trying to get all my client quilts finished so I can take most of the summer off. So far that hasn't worked out as well as I had hoped but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Bonnie and I met a few years ago at a quilting class and she quickly became one of my favorite clients. She pieced this lovely quilt and had me do some custom work on it.

I quilted snowflakes in the squares of the center star

I did a simple water stitch in the remainder of the quilt background.

Bonnie also pieced this next one.

This next quilt was done by Rose.

Linda's lovely quilt

quilted with Featheration

Such a stunning quilt!

Lastly, Jean wanted to make a quilt for her daughter Anna. The two of them picked out the fabrics and Jean started sewing. Neither one of them liked where the quilt was going so Jean started over and ended up with this.

This quilt was huge!! Jean and Anna wanted it custom quilted; it took me almost an entire week to get it done lol.

I ditched the entire quilt. In the floral snowballs; I did a daisy. In all the 'solid' snowballs, I quilted some lines.

Straight lines and water stitching in the borders.

Some of the blocks were done cathedral window style.

It was so fun to do. And Anna, and Jean! absolutely loved it.

it makes sense

That since I made Boy2 a new quilt when he was off in Mexico this past March, that I start quilting it when he is off in the Yukon this week.

this and that

Last week my uncle turned 80. He's had some health issues the past few months and did not want a party. Uncle is  a huge train fan and mom made him up a lovely train quilt(you can read about it here). She did her's differently than the directions said to so she had quite a bit of fabric leftover. I had the idea to make a matching pillow.

I drafted out what I wanted, sewed it all together and ended up with a 19.5 inch front for a 14inch pillow. Huh?? lol. Out came the seam ripper, I pulled it all apart and started again.

Who knew making a pillow would make such a mess? And require 5 rulers lol.

This is what I ended up with.

and the back

I know it's not the most exciting pillow in the world but I was(am) happy with how it turned out. And my uncle was speechless when he opened our gifts.

Next up sewing wise...
