 It might still be summer, but we are thinking all things winter and Christmas to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. And some fall quilt shows.

This little cutie features an Andover Christmas line from last season, Retro HoHo . I love that it's more winter than Christmas.

I kept the quilting more neutral and I think the choice was the perfect one.

I had just enough left of this fun pink fabric for the backing.

I really love these fabrics, they are more seasonal than festive.

And that star fabric for the binding, love!

 One of my favourite quilt patterns is plus quilts. I've had this pattern for so long that I don't even remember where I downloaded it from.

I originally made this quilt up as a store sample using the Flower Box line by Andover and some coordinating Linen Textures solids. And once I got the quilt top together, I decided to hang onto it for my mom's birthday and gift it to her.

I adore how this turned out.

The colours just pop!

As does the quilting.

 Paisley Max is one of my favourite quilting pantos for smaller projects. 

It has a lot of impact.

This fabric line has such pretty prints.

This one if my favourite.

And how about that blue binding? 

It might be my favourite part.

 Hi!!!

I made this quilt probably close to a year ago to be a sample for kits I wanted to make. And I didn't. Why, I have no idea because the quilt is so, so lovely.

This is the Vintage Lace pattern by Lo & Behold Stitchery.

This is the smallest(baby) size, it measures 48x48.

And it contains 320 2.5inch squares.

I absolutely love how the two colour version is so soft and yet so striking.

I darkened the picture so you can see the piecing better.

I had just enough pieces of this backing to use for backing.

I had just enough of the grey left for the binding. 

And now that it's done, I'm thinking of making this again in the modern version.

With being in eight(!!) quilt shows this year, I've been working hard behind the scenes to make new store samples.

This quilt I've now made a few times(one was a Christmas version). This version came about as I as moving some fabrics around and inspiration struck.

This is the Bird's Hill quilt by The Blanket Statement. I was inspired by the Kona's. These are the Kona colour of the year fabrics for 2021, 2022 and 2023 and I think they work perfectly together.

It's funny how in the pictures you can't see that the background is a low volume white.

I somehow ended up with 3 extra blocks and meant to piece them into the backing.

In my excitement to get the quilt quilted, I completely forgot about them.

I think my favourite part of this entire quilt is the striped binding.

It's the perfect finishing touch.

 This has quickly become one of my favourite baby quilt patterns. You may recall that I have made this exact quilt at least one other time; I've made a few other colour versions as well. It's a fun one!

This is the free pattern from Dear Stella, Dreamtopia. You can find the pattern here .

It's a great pattern, goes together quickly and I love how you can highlight some of your favourite prints.

I loved how the light was laying in this picture. 

I've since made another of these all in pastels and it's amazing how different the quilts look from each other.

I used the print from the star points as the binding. 

Finishes off the quilt just right.

As always, a cuddly flannel for the backing.

 I know it's been awhile. And I have to be honest, I feel like blogging is a dying art/interest and that makes me sad.  But I do love doing it, I just don't make it a priority as much as I probably should. Also, I really enjoy having a place where I can go back and look at the things I blog.

So saying all of that, I'm not going anywhere. I just might not be posting as much. But I will!

Now, onto some quiltie goodness.

I made this quilt last fall as store sample to feature some fall themed fabrics. I kept it simple enough and did 6 quarter meter cuts and a meter and a half of a solid and just made up some HSTs. The hardest part is sewing the blocks back together randomly.

Most of the fabrics I used are from the Robert Kaufman line, Sienna. 

You could change out one of the darker solid fabrics and get a quilt that would be a lot more springlike. I love how fabric works like that.

I love the panto Ground Cover on this. It's so striking on the solid fabrics, really highlighting the triangle points. 

The unspoken quilting rule is when a quilt has a lot of points, you would stick with a quilting panto with curves to soften the points in the piecing. Sometimes I agree with that and other times I break the rule.

I had just enough left of this brown wideback for the backing. Should your backing match your quilt top? Sometimes, sure. Other times, use up your fabrics!

This is your sign to grab yourself some fabrics and have fun with them. You never know what you'll end up creating!

 I love this baby quilt. 

Absolutely love it. 

The softness of the fabrics, the quilting, it all went together just perfectly.

Sorry the picture quality isn't the greatest on these. 

We haven't seen the sun in what feels like forever and that makes taking quilt pics difficult.

The grey fabric is a linen look fabric and the peachy/pink has a small heart shaped floral; it is just adorable.

I used a grey grunge for the binding.

And had just enough of my favourite flannel to finish up the backing.

And now it's ready for baby.

 This is the second quilt I made for Christmas. 

I hadn't planned on making any and I find it funny that the two I did make were a queen-size quilt and a little quilt. 

But when I saw this quilt, I couldn't resist making it.

This is the Take Me to the Magic Again Snowman pattern by Sterling Quilt Co.

I've made two of Sterling's Magic quilts before, both the originals.

I used one of my favourite Christmas prints as the background for these cuties.

I love how the black border frames it just perfectly.

I kept the Christmas theme going with a fun plaid for the backing.

I would love a full quilt with these. 

I might have to make one for next Christmas.

Remember me??! 

I totally got out of the habit blogging  so working on that again this year.

Onto the good stuff!

Our third son asked for a quilt for Christmas. I wasn't going to make him one since I had made him a Christmas quilt for his bed last year. 

But the Wednesday before Christmas, I decided to give it a shot and cut out a quilt. The Friday and Saturday before, I sewed the top together. 

I was able to carve out 2hours on Christmas Eve for quilting.

Almost a Christmas miracle.

This is the Expanding Stars quilt by Quilt Love.

This was one of the fastest quilts I've pieced. And such a great pattern as well.

The center is a Navy print, the inner star and the background are both a white with a black and grey fleck to it.

The olive green is a linen textured fabric and lastly, and probably my favourite, the grey gingham.

The outside triangles are a solid navy and I went with a black binding.

He doesn't like flannel for quilt backings so I had some fun and made pieced up a fun backing for him.

Did I mention how big this quilt is? 

It's a 96inch square.

I wavered too long on what to quilt on this quilt and I finally went with Loop the Loop.

Seriously, I love this quilt. 

I love it so much that I may have started one for myself lol.
