is there anybody out there?

hello!! Took a wee little blog break without planning on it. But I was using my time wisely. I have kicked 2016 on a crazy sewing/quilting binge and have completed 6 quilts tops!

This first quilt kicked everything off.

This is my Birdie Stitchery quilt that I started back in January 2011(catch up on all my related posts here). I last touched this quilt March 2013 making this my second oldest UFO. Well, not anymore.
Within a day of sewing, I had this finished. I can't believe I had it sitting for that long and a short day of sewing was all it needed.

Next, a baby quilt kit that I caught on a half price sale.

Super cute! And it will be ready for baby next month.

A plus quilt has been on my 'want to do' list for a while now.

I can see a few more of these in my future. So fun to do.

I had another quilt planned to start but while playing on Instagram on night I saw a quilt top and the next day...

I'm at a lost to quilt this and hope to get it finished for Valentine's Day.

Once that was finished, I started another First Crush quilt.

I didn't get a picture of the finished top but I loves it.
I even snuck another finished top in at work and got it quilted; have the binding to finish and I can show it too.

And I'm almost quilt top #7. At this rate I'll finish more quilts in the first month of this year than I did in all 2015 ;)

catching up

Week one of spring break is coming to an end and it's been a great week. I even got to spend some time in my sewing room and started something new.

I have completed a few embroidery projects as well this week.
A late Valentine's Day stitchery.

still need to wash my tracings out
And I finally got my Birdie Stitchery blocks finished!

Today a girlfriend and I went to the Creative Stitches show. It wasn't as good as years passed but I did find something to bring home.

Tonight during family movie night, it feels right to start another little something,

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

PS-sorry that I had to put word verification on my blog posts. the spam comments I have been getting was out of control. I will take it off in a few days.

i'm a bad blogger

I've been spending every spare moment in my sewing room lately. And if I have some free time when I'm not in there, than I'm embroidering. I fully intended to post yesterday but once I sat down to do it, I couldn't get a good picture of what I wanted to show you. I'll just have to save it for later this week :)

Embroidering has taken over here lately. In 8 days I finished up my Birdie Blocks. The last time I showed you my blocks, I was just finishing up June. I have October finished but it's drying so I'll have to get a picture later.

September.
blogger won't let me move it

July

August.
and yes, my iron threw-up on this block too. guess what I'll cleaning once I post this?

I also completed two of these stitcheries.

I'm hoping to add the borders on them today. One is a gift for a friend; she just might get it before she starts decorating for Christmas lol

how is it

The last week of summer holidays already? With how yucky our weather was in July, it seems like we had such a short summer.

I know it's been quiet around here; last Sunday I got hit with a sinus infection and an ear infection. Thankfully I am feeling better now but I was in a fog for most of last week. I didn't realize how sick I actually was until this past weekend. So not a lot of productivity here. I did finally get working on my Birdie blocks. I am so far behind; thankfully it doesn't take long to get a block done.

Here's June's block.

I still have the beak, legs and eye to finish.

July's block,

And August's,

Heehee! I told you I was behind.

I did do some sewing one night. I wanted something mindless to do so I started an hourglass quilt.

I'm really liking how it's turning out. I have the blocks all together now; just need to start assembling the rows.

Now it's off to work. Just a few days this week then I'm taking some time off to finish a few things around the house. And enjoy back to school lol. I will be back later today for Quilt Monday.

starts and finishes

My church is having a craft weekend this weekend. It's a fundraiser for our Sunday School department. Uninterrupted crafting for 4 hours on Friday night and all day Saturday-woo hoo! I'm hoping to start and complete a king-size quilt.

I was asked to make a door prize. I wanted something I could quilt at home so I went with a striped table runner.

I had enough of this fabric line left in my stash that I was able to back it with the same as well. I love this print.

I have some other quilts that are this close to having the tops finished. But instead I'm going to enjoy some of this gorgeous sunshine we've finally gotten and work on my May Birdie Block.

spring

The boys are on spring break for the next two weeks. And we kicked it off with a trip with two other families. We ended up leaving earlier than we had planned so I had no time to preset any blog posts. Or even warn you that I was pulling a disappearing act!

Spring arrived while we were away.

I planted 100 crocus bulbs in our front grass(yes, IN the grass). The yellow came up a few weeks ago and now the purple are in glorious bloom. Where the white ones are, I don't know. Maybe I'll get another surprise next week.

I went to a Stampin Up party last week. We made this lovely spring-themed card.

I really love this embossing folder.

And I got the last few stitches in on my March Birdie block.

I changed mine up a little bit.
I just had to have shamrocks in a March block!

opps, just noticed I forgot to wash the rest of my markings out of this block.

I'll be popping in and out over the next two weeks; posts won't be appearing as usual as we enjoy spring break. I hope you are enjoying spring too!

birdie stitchery

I finished block 1 last week and just haven't taken the time to trim the block down and add the 2.5inch squares. I really love how it turned out. I'm still debating about filling in some of the scarf and the ear muff. Will keep pondering it.

There's still lots of time to join in the fun. Click on the link in my right side bar or find the details here.

birdie stitchery day

Yesterday we gathered at Kim's to stitch block #1 of Little Miss Shabby's Birdie Stitchery.

As always, fantastic food.

I probably should have taken a picture BEFORE we started eating lol.

We all got a great start on our blocks. Kim even finished her's.

Kim's is the redwork block; Kim assembled her quilt already so she can embroider through her batting.

Cindy's block is in the left corner. She's using Nest by Moda. Andrea is using Bliss by Moda and her block is in the top left. Mine is the one with the wooden frame. I ended up forgetting two of my floss colors so I couldn't continue with my block. Jill's block is on the far right. Jill is still waiting for her jelly roll to arrive. I decided to do all my embroidery without adding my squares to my blocks.

After we came home, I ran out to the wool shop and picked up a few more flosses that blend better with my jelly roll.

Now I can get this finished. Bring on block 2!!

I couldn't resist

When I saw Little Miss Shabby post details on a free embroidery of the month block. Just tooooo cute! Even though I am painfully slow at embroidery and it may take me a few months to do just one month's stitching, I signed up.

My jelly roll arrived Tuesday from Green Fairy Quilts(she has fantastic prices and the shipping was pretty quick up here to Canada).

Yesterday I got everything traced out(for January) and am ready to go. I am not going to add the borders to my blocks until I'm done with the stitchery part; it might take me long enough that the pieced border gets warped waiting for me to finish lol.

Monday a few of us are getting together and going to stitch the day away. But I have a feeling some people are already finished this block ;)

Interested in starting? Cick on the button in my sidebar for more info. Next block isn't posted until next week! Come join us!
