customized

I don't do many custom quilts anymore. I can't actually decide if that is a good thing or a bad thing lol.

Up first, this bear quilt from Margaret.

I kept the quilting simple with piano keys in the border and a stipple in all the background.

For the bear paw sections, I love this.

I was totally stuck with what to do in the empty blocks and hubby came up with the idea of doing them the same as the paw blocks.

Love how it turned out.

Next, this lovely quilt by Connie.

What I love the most about this is Connie wanted the quilt quilted with orange thread; so fantastic! I did clouds in the sunset sections

and a water stitch in the water.

Lastly, this stunner by Joyce.

Joyce took a Prismatic Star quilt and increased it to 107x107.

I ditched the entire star.
 It took about 6hrs.

I went back and forth so many times over what to do in the background. I finally decided on a stipple. I wanted the center star to be the focal point; any elaborate quilting would take away from that.

I darkened the pic so you can see the quilting better.

The inner border, I did a ribbon stitched and ditched all the diamonds.

The diamonds just popped; so good!

The next border was big; 9.5 inches wide.
I quilted and ripped, quilting and ripped.  That took 2 days when suddenly an idea came to me and I went with it.

So good!!!

The large diamonds I did a ribbon stitch and a meander around them.

All the black borders were left unquilted.

Check out the backing.

Those aren't pleats, just wrinkles.

One last look,

This might be one of my top favourite quilts I have done ever.

quilt monday

I saw this FQ bundle and fell in love with it.

These fabrics.....

I went with my favourite FQ pattern, Little Man.

quilted with Hubby Love

These colours, so soft and delicate.

And now it's ready for a little one to love.

quilt show

This past weekend was one of our local guilds semi-annual quilt show. Here are a few of my favourite quilts.

This quilt needs to come live with me, Love!

I should have taken a closer picture of how small there 9patches are.
So fabulous.

This jelly roll star, the colours are amazing.

This quilt is also amazing.
Get it??

And it has feet ;)

Lastly, this one.
I spent 6 days custom quilting this beauty(more details later on this week).

quilt monday

I got a FQ bundle of Madam Rouge by French General either for Christmas or my birthday last year from a friend. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it so I just kept it out and knew eventually it would speak to me :)

quilted with FairyFloss

As you can see, I went with granny squares and I couldn't love this more.

I love how the quilting softens the quilt right up. I think it gives it a vintage feel as well.

And the pop of red on the binding? Perfection.

It's been too long since I made a quilt just for me and this is just perfect.

this and that

A few months ago I was contacted by Paper Garden to review some envelopes. I was eagerly awaiting the envelops and the ones I got, fantastic!

This isn't even all of them. There were so many different shapes and the colours? Amazing. My favourite was a soft pastel pink. Thanks again!

I also finally(!!) broke open a long hoarderd jelly roll of Shangri La. I even have yardage!
I kept changing my mind on what I wanted to make but I think I finally decided.

And I think I like where this is going.

quilt monday

I might not have my (epic)Swoon finished but I did finish a little something with the random hsts from each block.

I'm actually glad to have gotten this done as I realized I did a quilt with light coloured blocks and a dark background. Always makes for a bit of a challenge picking thread for the quilting; do you go dark or light?

quilted with Paisley Max

I had just enough of a fat quarter left for the binding.

And enough of my favourite ugly quilt backing fabric lol.

Maybe this week I can get my Swoon finally finished.
Stay tuned....

odds and ends

I finished up this baby quilt the other day. I love pink and yellow together.

Got all caught up on my TrueNorth bee blocks.

And just because
