quilt monday

A few years ago, I made grad quilts for some of my friend's children. I than realized how many quilts I would end up making over the next few years lol.

Usually I am able to get idea of favourite colours etc but for this quilt? I had nothing. Luckily I was able to stalk her pinterest board and get a few ideas. This is what I came up with.

Her pinterest was mostly black, white, gold and pink. And simple yet modern. Lucky for me, she was in the midst of a bedroom redo so I found lots of inspiration.

I wanted to do feathers on this so bad but I was worried it would ruin the modern look. Instead, they were the perfect choice.

quilted with Bountiful Feathers

I went with a very pale pink for the binding.

But the backing. See, this graduate, her goal is to go to Disneyland and become a Disney princess. She is (almost) a bigger Disney fan than I am. And I knew exactly what to use for backing.

I'm pretty sure the quilt top will soon become the quilt back lol.

odds and ends

I am finally caught up with all my bee blocks now. And I will admit that this supernova block was a bit stumping at the beginning and I had to do some re-cutting. This will sure be a striking quilt when she gets all her blocks.

I got this little mini top finished. Great use of my Swoon leftovers.

I really need to get that quilt finished.

My June FQ club happiness arrived.

So good!

And I have some secret sewing going on.

I'm pretty excited about this one!

quilt monday

I have an entire jelly roll cut into 2.5inch squares. Years ago, I attempted a quilt using a jelly roll but there wasn't enough colour variation in the roll so I pulled the entire top apart and ended up with a whack of squares. I wanted to make something quick and easy and this fit the bill.

Hello Luscious by BasicGrey and some yummy Grunge fabric-perfection.

I kept the quilting simple and did straight lines. I was also in a hurry and this was the first thing I thought of lol.

I had just enough of the teal Grunge for the binding.

And hidden in the bag of all these leftover squares, a little surprise.
There were some granny square blocks leftover from a previous project.

I quickly figured out why the blocks were abandoned when I went to trim them, the piecing was not precise on this blocks and trimming them up was a nightmare. But unless you look closely, you would never notice. I hope lol.

quilted with Double Plume

It's so narrow(roughly 9inches), it looks like a scarf lol
But it fits the space I wanted it for perfectly.

I currently have 7(!!!!) quilts awaiting binding. One dating alllll the way back to January lol. I better get hand sewing.

sewing days

I had gotten behind in my True North bee blocks. 3 months behind. So Monday I decided nothing new was happening until I got caught up.

Love these bubble blocks.

Duck Path block.

Raspberry Kisses block.

Now that I am caught up, it's time for some more 2 colour quilts.

Black and white.

Grey and white.

And some secret sewing ;)

Stay tuned!
