quilt monday

I bought this quilt last fall from Fat Quarter Shop. It's the Migrataion quilt using the FarmHouse line(so much lol!!) I've had the quilt finished for a while now, it just took me what felt like forever to get the binding completed.

I wasn't sure how I wanted to quilt this so I went with straight lines at about 3/4s of an inch apart.
It's funny, doing straight lines takes almost as long as quilting a pantograph sometimes.

I do have a complaint about this kit. I'm not sure if there was a mistake in the cutting directions but every single top point on my triangles is whacked off. I'm sure there needs to be an adjustment somewhere in the pattern.

And again, I regret not hoarding some of this line. Think I'll have to do some checking and see if I can get my hands on more.

Happy Monday!!

Reese Cake Bars

1 chocolate cake mix
1 egg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 regular sized peanut butter cups, frozen and unwrapped
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup mini Reese's Pieces

  1. Combine the cake mix, egg, butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Beat until a soft dough forms. Press half the dough into an 8x8x2 baking dish that has been sprayed with non stick spray.
  2. Arrange the frozen peanut butter cups over the top of the dough. You may need to trim the edges of a few. Press the rest of the dough over the tops of the peanut butter cups evenly.
  3. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the top of the dough. Sprinkle with the Reese's Pieces. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. They will look very gooey and undone. Let the bars cool completely before cutting into 16 squares. Store in a sealed container on the counter.
The recipe says use an 8x8x2 pan...that means make sure the sides of your pan are 2 inches high, so the mixture does not bubble over!!!!
Make sure you freeze your peanut butter cups at least a few hours before you start to make these bars.
Make sure you also let these bars set completely before cutting into them. They will appear very gooey and undone, but do not worry. They will set up. I usually make them the night before and let them set up overnight before cutting.

playing catch up!

Such great customer quilts lately!

I'll admit I didn't think the pattern Maureen chose was going to work well. I was wrong. The simplicity was perfect.

And how about her backing fabric??

quilt monday

I've posted a few times about my JellyRoll Star quilt. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this quilt as I loved the colours but it didn't work in my house.

I debated making the quilt smaller and making it a wall hanging. I debated not finishing it at all.

Then I realized, a young couple was getting married soon. And her favorite colours were blue and green. And a plan was in place.

I adore how this quilt turned out.

I felt feathers were the perfect quilting choice and I don't think I could have chosen better.

I ended up having to sneak some extra fabrics in for the piano keys; they blended perfectly.

My favourite thing about gifting this quilt? Receiving a huge thank you hug a few days later.
Sadly, the past few quilts I have gifted people, there have been no thank yous. This one might make up for the others.

Happy Monday!

I totally forgot about Card Friday yesterday. Biggest reason being that I haven't stamped in ages; you should see the list I have of cards I need to make.

I do have something card related to show you. A few weeks ago, one of my clients surprised me with a bag full of goodies.

Most of these stamp sets are brand new! Such a great surprise and such an awesome gift!
Now I just need to sit down and create with them.

Thanks again Salli!!
