quilt monday

It might be Tuesday, let's all pretend it's Monday ;)

I signed up again this fall for the Fresh Mini Quilt Club. If you haven't signed up, you still can.

I was going to say that this was the August mini; nope, it's July!! Guess I have August AND September to catch up on now lol.

I wasn't paying attention to the cutting instructions and I hadn't planned on the colours ending up the way they are but I still like how it turned out.

I usually straight line quilt my minis, this time I did a pattern.

This one is easily one of my favorites. I'm even debating making a baby quilt with it.

But first I better get August and September done!

quilt monday

Hello!! How it's already almost the middle of August is beyond me; where has summer gone? And I have barely spent anytime in my sewing room; I can't remember the last time I have gone this long without sewing. What have I been working on? Mini quilts!!

I made this first one as a surprise gift for a very dear friend.

And for another friend

It took longer than I want to admit to make this next mini. And even longer to get it quilted.

I seem to be on a kick with aqua binding lol.

I had some time home alone Saturday afternoon(woohoo lol) and I got my July fresh mini quilt finished.

Can you guess what colour I plan on binding this one in?

today

Was an interesting day; a birthday lunch, a funeral and a baby shower.A day full of celebration!

And you know it's going to be a great day when your client shows up driving one of these

I signed up for the Fresh Mini Quilt Club again. I also ordered one of my favorite patterns from the last round(I didn't join). I think this was May's block. Anyways, I cut this out June 1st and just finished the other night. Did I mention it's a mini quilt and only 24x24 square? We are just too busy!

Wonder how long it will take me to get it quilted lol.

**Just a reminder, with it being summer, my posting might drop off. But I will still be posting **

quilt monday

How absolutely fabulous did this turn out??

I read a variety of tutorials online and the quilting was so much easier than I expected. I drew a swirl in the middle of the quilt to help get the quilting going and away I went.

Originally I bound with with a mottled orange but after asking on Instagram, I went with a fabulous teal diagonal stripe. Thanx again for the suggestion Dana!

quilt monday

I have so enjoyed Megan's Fresh Mini Quilt Club. There is only one month that I haven't done yet; and that's only because I still can't decide what fabrics to use lol.

For May's quilt, I used fabrics similar to Megan's sample. And you know I had to straight line quilt it.

I did the quilting on the diagonal to give the quilt a little more oomph. I did debate doing crosshatching but I felt it would overwhelm the quilt.
The hardest part of this entire mini was deciding what colour for the binding lol.

And just when you thought the minis were finished

Remember Me?

Summer is just flying by and we are trying to get as much out of it as we can. With this amazing weather we have been having, more time has been spent outside then in.

I have gotten some sewing done. I finished up this adorable baby quilt.

fabric DS Collection. pattern Little Man from the book Simplify
I started a pinwheel quilt from a newly found stashed charm square pack.

I also finished another month of the Fresh Mini Quilt Club. This is May's quilt.

But the best finish of all, my summer quilt.

Now will I get it quilted this summer?

quilt monday

Yes, another mini quilt. Three more weeks of school than hopefully I will have time to make a quilt bigger than a mini lol.
I love the colours of this so much. Not my usual colours at all but something about them just make me happy.

Again, quilting kept simple with straight lines. I did good goof with this quilt though. I sewed the rows together wrong and didn't notice until after I had trimmed the rows down. So when I sewed it together correctly, I lost some points on my geese.

Now to get the binding done and find a spot for this one.

mini finishes

Have been sneaking in some time here and there and have come up with a few finishes.

Now these aren't colours I would normally be drawn too but I saw them stacked together and they looked so pretty that they had to be used for this.

Originally I had chosen different fabrics. And this happened.

The sides of the geese? That is actually two separate fabrics. But once I cut them apart, they looked like the same fabric. I didn't want to just waste them so that is what I came up with.

And last night I finally finished up this. Well, at least the embroidery part. Good timing too since I just traced out a Christmas embroidery project that I want to get started on. I just might finish it for Christmas.

quilt monday

I managed to  sneak in some quilting time for myself on Thursday and I got May's Fresh Mini Quilt quilted.

I love how this quilt turned out. I wanted to keep the quilting simple so I did straight lines on the diagonal.

When I saw this stripe at my LQS, I couldn't resist it for the binding on this. It doesn't match the orange 100% but I still think it's perfect.

One teacher present finished, one to go!

fabulous

That one word sums up our weekend. Had such a great time hanging out with our youth group(and pulling some pranks on them too lol). But wow, am I still tired! Monday the sun made an appearance and it was garden day; weeding, barkmulching, updating. Now I need a weekend to recover from my weekend.

I did get some quilting snuck in on Sunday afternoon and I finished up this wall hanging.

And yesterday I finished up my May Fresh Mini Club quilt.

It's an end of the year teacher gift so I did it in our school colours. This block may be my favorite out of the 3 months so far. But I think I've said that before lol.

mini's

I adore mini quilts. So fun to make. Great to showcase special fabrics. And quick to finish.

Back in February, Megan started the Fresh Mini Quilt Club. I debated joining than I saw all the great minis for March popping up and knew I had to sign up.

I finally got my March mini made on the weekend.

fabric is Zen Chic

How fabulous is this block? I love it so much that I may have another already on the go. And I have two for April almost finished.

Now get to Megan's blog and sign up so you can play too!
