quilt monday

Had a free hour last week at work and figured I could sneak in a quilt for myself.
Instead I finished three.

Granted they are small ones lol.
I love this willow tree so much.

This is a free pattern; you can download it here.

I ditched the borders and wasn't sure how to quilt the embroidery so I straight stitched it. And not sure yet if I love it or not.

I also quilted up my LOVE embroidery as well.

I also ditched this one and quilted the embroidery section on the angle. And this one I love!

mini finishes

Have been sneaking in some time here and there and have come up with a few finishes.

Now these aren't colours I would normally be drawn too but I saw them stacked together and they looked so pretty that they had to be used for this.

Originally I had chosen different fabrics. And this happened.

The sides of the geese? That is actually two separate fabrics. But once I cut them apart, they looked like the same fabric. I didn't want to just waste them so that is what I came up with.

And last night I finally finished up this. Well, at least the embroidery part. Good timing too since I just traced out a Christmas embroidery project that I want to get started on. I just might finish it for Christmas.

missing

This is the current state of my sewing room.

This is the first full week of school since the end of February and it has felt like the longest week ever. Sadly it's just not the business going on that has caused me to not have any desire to do any quilting. My mojo is just gone.

Instead I hosted our monthly craft night at church earlier this week.

Didn't get a lot of cards finished but we had a good time.

I picked up a new book.

And have spent every spare moment in the past two days sneaking time to read more. I finished it tonight(mostly the reason why this post is so late. That and the nap I had when I came home from work lol) If you are looking for a good book to read, get this one! It was fabulous.

Lastly, the last thing I finished in my sewing room

Maybe my clean sewing table will inspire me this weekend and my mojo will return. I'll keep you posted.

catching up

Week one of spring break is coming to an end and it's been a great week. I even got to spend some time in my sewing room and started something new.

I have completed a few embroidery projects as well this week.
A late Valentine's Day stitchery.

still need to wash my tracings out
And I finally got my Birdie Stitchery blocks finished!

Today a girlfriend and I went to the Creative Stitches show. It wasn't as good as years passed but I did find something to bring home.

Tonight during family movie night, it feels right to start another little something,

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

PS-sorry that I had to put word verification on my blog posts. the spam comments I have been getting was out of control. I will take it off in a few days.

love day

Happy Valentine's Day readers.

I didn't realize how many Valentine's decorations I had until I went to do this post lol.

I did the heart artwork last week. Not thrilled with it but since I seem to be the only one who can notice the imperfections in it; it stays. For now ;)

must paint fireplace. any suggestions? white is not an option

This is still one of my favorite quilts.

And my new Valentine's one.

quilted with Folk Heart
I got my Valentine's mailed off just in time this year. And I lucked out; they were delivered today-perfect timing!

Sadly I didn't get my embroider project finished. I finished the embroidery but that's as far as I got. I was going to sew it together when I got home today but as you can see; not all my tracing washed out. Glad I noticed before I ironed it!

Now Jim and I are off to cook lots and lots of pancakes. Our youth group is doing a formal pancake dinner tonight for Valentine's Day and we volunteered to cook. Should be a fun night!

i'm a bad blogger

I've been spending every spare moment in my sewing room lately. And if I have some free time when I'm not in there, than I'm embroidering. I fully intended to post yesterday but once I sat down to do it, I couldn't get a good picture of what I wanted to show you. I'll just have to save it for later this week :)

Embroidering has taken over here lately. In 8 days I finished up my Birdie Blocks. The last time I showed you my blocks, I was just finishing up June. I have October finished but it's drying so I'll have to get a picture later.

September.
blogger won't let me move it

July

August.
and yes, my iron threw-up on this block too. guess what I'll cleaning once I post this?

I also completed two of these stitcheries.

I'm hoping to add the borders on them today. One is a gift for a friend; she just might get it before she starts decorating for Christmas lol

starts and finishes

My church is having a craft weekend this weekend. It's a fundraiser for our Sunday School department. Uninterrupted crafting for 4 hours on Friday night and all day Saturday-woo hoo! I'm hoping to start and complete a king-size quilt.

I was asked to make a door prize. I wanted something I could quilt at home so I went with a striped table runner.

I had enough of this fabric line left in my stash that I was able to back it with the same as well. I love this print.

I have some other quilts that are this close to having the tops finished. But instead I'm going to enjoy some of this gorgeous sunshine we've finally gotten and work on my May Birdie Block.

birdie stitchery day

Yesterday we gathered at Kim's to stitch block #1 of Little Miss Shabby's Birdie Stitchery.

As always, fantastic food.

I probably should have taken a picture BEFORE we started eating lol.

We all got a great start on our blocks. Kim even finished her's.

Kim's is the redwork block; Kim assembled her quilt already so she can embroider through her batting.

Cindy's block is in the left corner. She's using Nest by Moda. Andrea is using Bliss by Moda and her block is in the top left. Mine is the one with the wooden frame. I ended up forgetting two of my floss colors so I couldn't continue with my block. Jill's block is on the far right. Jill is still waiting for her jelly roll to arrive. I decided to do all my embroidery without adding my squares to my blocks.

After we came home, I ran out to the wool shop and picked up a few more flosses that blend better with my jelly roll.

Now I can get this finished. Bring on block 2!!

I couldn't resist

When I saw Little Miss Shabby post details on a free embroidery of the month block. Just tooooo cute! Even though I am painfully slow at embroidery and it may take me a few months to do just one month's stitching, I signed up.

My jelly roll arrived Tuesday from Green Fairy Quilts(she has fantastic prices and the shipping was pretty quick up here to Canada).

Yesterday I got everything traced out(for January) and am ready to go. I am not going to add the borders to my blocks until I'm done with the stitchery part; it might take me long enough that the pieced border gets warped waiting for me to finish lol.

Monday a few of us are getting together and going to stitch the day away. But I have a feeling some people are already finished this block ;)

Interested in starting? Cick on the button in my sidebar for more info. Next block isn't posted until next week! Come join us!

quilt monday

There is a little story behind this one. September 2007, it may have even have been 2006!, I took and embroidery class at Hamels Quilt store. This adorable little tea cup sat and sat and sat until fall of 2008 when I completed it. Than I had no idea what to do with it.

Than I had the idea of making it into a little wallhanging for one of my aunts for Christmas. I cut it down to a 6.5 inch square, added some borders, did some stippling, some ditching and ended up with this...

Eeeeek! I just noticed not one but TWO loose threads on the front; I wonder if I got that cut before I gave it away?

i finally finished

After taking a class at Hamels two years ago, I got this teeny tiny stitchery done over the weekend. Now to figure out what to do with it lol! And yes, I should have ironed it before I took the picture lol!
