an FYI

This was my favorite pot. It's the perfect size; it's the most used in my collection

Tonight, I put some water on the stove to boil. Went downstairs and forgot about the pot. Realized pot was on the stove when I heard a strange sound.

Thank goodness I hadn't caused a fire. What I did cause was this

The pot got so hot that the welding holding on the copper bottom MELTED and came right off

The pot doesn't sit flat anymore; not that we can use it anyways.

It was neat to see how the welding stuff(what is that called? lol) melted and hardened. It looks just like tin foil; just thicker

So next time you put a pot on the stove, don't leave the kitchen!!

bag night

Last night some of the Ladies Who Lunch got together at work to do some bag making.

We all decided to make this bag

Here is Cindy instructing Sarah on cutting out her fabric

Everyone listening intently on the next step

Jill caught my measuring and marking mistake just before she cut her fabric-opps! Good eye Jill!

I apparently was making measuring mistakes all night-note how my two bags are NOT the same size lol

Jill almost finished here; just the straps to go

Deana was able to get her bag finished even with Little Evie there cheering her on.

Jill deciding another bag or maybe a funky skirt?

And check out her fantastic shoes. Interesting that we wear the same size ;)

At the end of the night, almost everyone had finished their bags

Sarah got two done

Deana with hers

Jill so nicely modeled them all for us. Mine is the chunk of fabric on the end; I just need to add my straps

Than it was suggested we take a *funky* picture. So I laid on the floor for it. I was laughing so hard I'm surprised the picture turned out. Plus I was falling over

Thanx for such a fun night! Even Mini-E had fun

quilt monday-on a tuesday

It was just too hot yesterday to go out and take a picture. And today it is supposed to be hotter-yesterday the temp, well the humidex was at 43*celsius. That is over 100-ack

This one is for me; a new wall hanging for our bedroom wall. No, the binding isn't completed yet; have been too busy doing other project at night when I usually do binding

One of my favorite parts is the pieced backing using two extra rows from the quilt. The white bit is the hanging sleeve. This is a charm square pattern I found here

Quilted with what is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine, Tendril

And just because it is so pretty right now in bloom, our trumpet vine

Tune in later to see what mischief was had last night

today i had a dream

Of not leaving the house and sewing all day long. Instead, I read for a few hours. Played with the kids outside and spent too much time goofing off on Twitter and Facebook.

Around 4pm, a storm rolled in and the thunder and lightening started. Yanked the kids out of the pool(they were so thrilled with that) and turned off the computers. And decided it was time to start sewing.

My goal today was to finally get my Quilt ALong quilt together. Guess what? I did. And I love it. It's a great size;roughly 115 square. It's not ironed in this picture; I figured I would just iron it once so I'll do that before I quilt it

I than decided to sew the remaining blocks together. I had decided what to do with a quilt with the leftovers. From sewing the rows together and adding the borders, it only took about 3 hours. And I love it. I may even love it more than the one I made for us lol.

I still have a few blocks measuring 7.5X11.5 but I have a plan for those. Stay tunned

bags and more bags

I think I have stumbled onto a new and very fun addiction, bag making. I made this one for my cousin for her birthday. It was really quick and easy to put together and I absolutely love how it turned out. And so did she.

There is a outer pocket and on the one inside, I sewed in dividers. I opted out of doing the zippered pocket; zippers are evil lol!

border fabric

I've always wondered about other uses for these; besides borders that is. I had bought a chicken one years ago during the height of my chicken/rooster addiction And it sat and sat and sat in my fabric stash.

I had decided a few months ago, fabrics that I was hording, were now going to be made into quilt backings. And the border fabric was perfect for this quilt.

Than Peg brought in this quilt. And I love the way she has used the border fabrics here.

A better picture of the quilt colors.

Morning Glory

This is a pre-pieced Moda fabric that Joan wanted quilted. She had matching pillow shams done as well that you can see on Mom's blog Joan picked the pattern Morning Glory for both the quilt and the shams.

And Cindy did the binding. A little bit of each of us :)

i love to cook

But I hate planning what to eat and dinner time always(most of the time!) ends up being a rushed frantic push to get something tasty and healthy on the table before it's almost bedtime lol.

I have done meal-planning in the past and last night decided enough was enough. My goal; to get into the habit of doing it again for the remainder of the summer so once school gets back in, I am back in the habit.

So I pulled out some of my favorite cookbooks while dinner was cooking last night and planned the rest of this weeks dinners.

Tonight-it's Beef Stir-fry. One of my favorites and we don't have it nearly enough because I hate touching raw meat and cutting it up *shudder* So I cheated and bought meat from the butcher that was already sliced. I figure the cost difference is worth it lol!

Wednesday-Crisp and Creamy Chicken

Thursday-Creamy BowTie Chicken

Friday-Quick Beef Burrito Skillet

Saturday-soup. Quite possibly the family favorite Hamburger Soup. Or a new one we have tried that seems to be a hit-Tortellini Soup

Sunday-BBQ veggies, BBQ new potatoes and steak.

Wish me luck!

No one in here

Or out here

Not hiding in here

Or there

Today was a very special day. #2 is in overnight camp all week; 3 and 4 started day camp. And my Mom called this morning and asked if #1 can come stay there a few days. Um, YES!

How did I spend my day?

I got #3's birthday card made(his birthday was June 30th lol)

The best part? I finally got all my Quilt A Long blocks cut out!

Now to find a spot to lay them all out and start assembling the top.

And what should I do with all these 7.5x 11.5 blocks?
