completely forgot to post this picture when i finished this quilt. this is the one i started and ended up putting the pattern on upside down(ugh) lol. turned out really great-i love this pattern!(fall's reward by Dave Hudson)

precision

i've noticed that i've become a better piecer since getting my longarm quilting machine. just simple little changes i've made that in the end, makes a better looking project.

i've been spending the past few days trying to get my thangle blocks finished from last year before i start on this year's set. you would think that since you use templates to create each block, your piecing would be basically dead on. no such luck in my case.

i finished this block earlier today and noticed when i was ironing it, how *out* the seams were. i debated about leaving it but i couldn't do it. so i bit of reverse stitching and i am happy i fixed it(sorry the pictures are blurry!).

now on to my last 2 blocks!

card club

was last night and my turn to teach 2 cards. i had wanted to try some fun folds but when planning my cards on Monday i realized that the 8X11 sheets i had told everyone to buy weren't big enough.

this card is a case with a twist from Kristina's blog. go take a peek at her work-her make a card monday's are fabulous! the background for the flower is done using the melted crayon technique.

heartbroken

we came to a painful desicion today and are having our Pepper put to sleep this afternoon. we've been dealing with bladder/urinary tract problems with him since the beginning of December. his test results have all come back inconclusive; there is no explanation to why this is still going on. he is in such pain and this is the best thing for him. we love you Pepper

implements of torture

with spending 95% of last week working on the website, i am very behind on my longarming.
i thought i should start with something quick and easy-a cute Halloween panel that i was planning on doing a new pumpkin pattern on. i got started, all was going well when i stopped to answer the phone. came back into the room and horrors, the quilt pattern was upside down on the quilt-eek!!

not sure how well you can make it out in the picture(click on the picture to make it larger should do it) but it was a major opps. so i got to rip, 15minutes of quilting took just under 2 hours to remove *sigh*.
i never did finish the quilt

did you know

that today is apparently the most depressing day of the year? i don't know about you, but i had a GREAT day!

so to cheer you up, i'm going to do a small giveaway(will pick a winner Wednesday) up for grabs is this table runner pattern and the snowmen fabric(mitten/hats fabric measures 18"x22.5" and the snowmen is 1/4yrd-maybe a meter lol)

post this on your blog directing people to the giveaway and i'll enter your name in twice(and yes, i will check lol!)

good luck! and scroll down for newer posts

oh yummy!

quilt monday

i got the binding finished on this on our drive to Calgary for Christmas. you may remember i started this quilt before Christmas 2006, i just ran out of time to get it quilted. i did hang it up when we came home though so i could at least enjoy it a bit this past Christmas lol
and yes it is straight! i even measured it as it doesn't look like it is. course it would help if it was hung straight to begin with lol!

as with all my pictures, click on the picture to get a closer look

a ho hum card

it just doesn't work for me. i think i should have left everything straight instead of angling it. but hey, i stamped!

gift for a friend

the week we were leaving for Christmas, our house sitter canceled on us(ack). a friend offered to come over to care for our cats; one of which needed medicine twice/day. and did i mention said friend is 4 months pregnant?

she told me when we came back i couldn't pay her. but there was no way i wasn't going to get her something in return. that's when i realized i had an extra quilt i decided that would be perfect

quilt is quilted with Loriens Bright and Breezy Panto and SoFine thread

mmmmmm fabric

i had heard that our local Liquidation World was having a big fabric sale before Christmas-i was good and stayed away.
and lately i've been reading on too many local blogs about the great deals on the fabric they still had, i just had to go check it out

i didn't get allot but i did find some great deals. most of what i bought will be used for quilt backings or backgrounds. the black/grey/red floral is the exact color scheme my sister in law has in her living room and i'm hoping i have enough fabric there to make up something for her.

the deal of the day was the Moda Chocolat fabric. this one was/is one i don't particularly care for but when i got it measured out(she wrote down 6meters and there was just over 7 left) and realized there was enough to back my king sized Thangles quilt i'm doing with this Moda line, i had to take it. and even better, when my purchase was rang up, $31.82 after taxes?!?! what a steal!

i stamped! i stamped!

and it took me so long to decide what i wanted to do that i only had time for 2 cards. and i still haven't played with my cuttlebug!

i'm not thrilled with the lighting in this picture, the paper is actually a pale blue and the ribbon is a grey/green with a green edge that matches the green layered square

quilt monday

made this for B for Christmas. mom quilted it in McTavish style. click on the picture to make it bigger to see all the detail

this is an oldie, i don't have anything new to show you! will fix that this weekend :)

isn't he cute?

i still need to sew the binding down. and draw on some eyes. and i have no green thread to match the letters so i'll have to appliqué them later. but other than that, he's finished lol! and i did the whole thing with fabric from my scrap bin, have to love that!

and stay tuned, i may have another snowman wallhanging to show you tomorrow!

why are all snowmen blue?

have you noticed that? most snowmen quilts are blue, or at least the majority of the ones i've seen have been. i know it's because the blue represents cold but they are always blue lol!

anyways, was packing away the Christmas stuff today and bringing out my snowmen collection(yes, i have so many snowmen that they come out in January after the Christmas stuff is gone) and i realized that since painting my kitchen, the table runner i had on our kitchen table for January no longer matches. so what could i do but start a new one? and sadly enough, the one i did isn't even for the table lol!

this is the pattern i was using, hence the whole why are snowmen blue babble above. i just couldn't bring myself to do it in blue. so i ended up emptying out my scrap bin and found the wonderful snowmen fabric(that there was exactly just enough of!) i ended up using in the border and went from there. you may remember, i had started this wall hanging last month but goofed on the letters. i got it right this time!

not sure why mine looks like a cowboy snowman but hey, i like it.

and just when i went to quilt it, i discovered i'm out of batting!! and i still need a winter table runner lol!!
