just when I had a few moments

Gizmo got all cozy.

How could I possibly disturb him?

But it gave me the excuse to start playing with something new.

Thank you so much for all the love on Monday. Swoon seems to be a favorite of everyone.

quilt monday

Well my wish came true last night and we woke up to some snow this morning. All the neighboring cities around us got dumped on with snow over the weekend. And the weather reports teased us Friday and Saturday with a snowfall warning and we got nothing. I LOVE snow. Maybe it's because we don't get it as often or as much as other places but I love it

I also discovered what the strange noise was I kept hearing last night. Looks like the kitten(who's not so much a kitten anymore at roughly 5.5months lol) got a little crazy last night and attacked the border in the kitchen. Guess this means that I'm not keeping the border when I repaint next month lol

And because it is supposed to be getting spring like outside, here's a springy quilt for you today. Happy Monday!

disappearing 9 patch

I have wanted to make one of these for so long. I was working on a different quilt yesterday and I completely failed in following the directions and ended up making the quilt twice as big as I had originally wanted(from lap size to double/full lol) Good thing, I knew I could still get the fabric. Bad thing, I couldn't go when I realized I needed more fabric lol!!

So the 9 patch. I'm following the directions Wendy posted on her blog and it is so simple! I'm using a charm square pack from Benartex Cidar Mill Road. Now this charm square pack only had 37 charms so this has ended up smaller than I wanted but I'm hoping that Hamels has some of this in yardage and I'll pop a sashing into it(oh I just checked and they do. And even better, it's on sale!!!).

I'm not thrilled with my piecing. Something about me and charm squares not lining up; I don't think charm squares like me much lol.

And speaking of liking things, you can see how Gizmo loves this quilt. It is completely hopeless to lay a quilt out on the floor unless Gizmo gets locked into a room somewhere. Such a monster but we love him

i took this as a hint

That I had sewn enough yesterday and that it was time to go to bed. And I accomplished sooooo much yesterday; the borders on my quilt(and now I'm heading off to work to quilt it and mom's Christmas present), got B's pillow made and all 3 of my little wallhangings. Now I just need to do the applique on the tea towels and I may even get my last embroidery project finished. Woo hoo!

how could i possibly

Disturb this?

But I did and LOOK!, I made a Christmas card! Only 40 or so left to go now lol!

it's beginning to look alot like Christmas

Our upstairs tree(or as the family calls it, mom's tree lol)

The downstairs tree

And for those that have asked, Gizmo. And yes, he's staying

now i'll know

If Jim reads my blog when he's away working. Because this sort of followed me home today. I am in soooo much trouble when Jim gets home lol!!

i have a new helper

This is KittyKat. She was a stray out at my parents place and after watching her for two weeks, I brought her home. She seems to like this Christmas present I was finishing up this afternoon

meet Shadow

our new kitty. we picked him up today from the SPCA. poor thing was abandoned up in Northern BC. he is a long hair and the SPCA has had him partially shaved, i am taking him in on monday to have the rest of him done. the mats in his fur are the size of my palm poor baby!
the picture doesn't show how big he is-he is a really solid kitty. i'm so glad we found him. now to tell Jim lol!!

heartbroken

we came to a painful desicion today and are having our Pepper put to sleep this afternoon. we've been dealing with bladder/urinary tract problems with him since the beginning of December. his test results have all come back inconclusive; there is no explanation to why this is still going on. he is in such pain and this is the best thing for him. we love you Pepper

my helper

wanted to help out while i took pictures of the quilt i'm currently working on

bookends

technical difficulties

got the rows for my Oriental quilt sewn together tonight and was going to take a picture to show you when Pepper decided to *help* lol!

this and that

back to quilting today. thought i would show you a picture of my constant *helper* lol

tonight i started on a Christmas banner that i got for my birthday. i got the background all sewn together and will start appliqueing the pieces down tomorrow. in the second picture you can see the beautiful accents on the darkest fabric. as a side note, don't iron the right side of fabric like that. don't ask me how i discovered that *sigh* the fabric is a very dark blue-almost black. sure shows up brown in the picture. i'm planning on hanging this above our fireplace
