blog game

found this on Shelina's blog

I have a new game, and you can play along with me if you want. Sometimes reading a blog through bloglines is a chore. It is such a long list, and it just seems too methodical to go through them. And the www is much more fun and quirky than that.

So here's the game. You go to a blog, click on the comment section and post a note to say hi. You know how in the olden days people visiting came bringing gifts? My mom still does that. Anyway, your gift is your comment.

Okay, once you are done with the comment, look around at the other comments, and choose someone you don't know at all or very well, and click on their name and go to their blog.

Round and round you go, you never know where you will wind up.

Have fun!

buggy barn

this is my latest project. its from buggy barn(have you seen their fabrics?)

all I've gotten done so far is cutting out the pattern. you layer 12 fat quarters, than cut your pieces(that was nerve wracking lol) than you flip some of the fabrics(swap the 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the 8th, 9th, 10th etc.) sew your pieces together(hoping to start that today) and make your blocks

altered tin for my sister in law

just have to fill it with some chocolate and mail it in time for Valentine's Day

quilt monday

since this quilt is on its way to be delivered today(as i wait in nervous anticipation that it's all good!) i can post a picture of it now

this is a log cabin quilt(this is a great beginner quilt. they go together so fast!)this layout is called fields and furrows. i quilted it using Dave Hudson's pattern Surf's Up

altered lunchbox #2

i love how differently it looks from the first one. i still want to get some red ribbon to match the red on the paper and will add that to the handle

the saying on the front is a sticker i found while cleaning out my paper stash

nothing to see here

sorry! i had the brilliant idea to reorganize my craft area yesterday(after B and M got into my paper bits and had them everywhere!) and it turned into a way bigger job than i thought it would be. but i am done now; got allot of stuff cleared out(i filled a recycling bag with paper bits lol!!)

i am almost finished my second altered lunchbox-not sure if i'll post a picture when finished. i don't have a ribbon to match the paper(stop laughing) and i'm really ticked that my so-perfect template that i used on the lid of the first tin doesn't fit this lid(grumble grumble). at least i discovered that before i cut out my patterned paper!

we went for a drive today out in the sunshine-was just a beautiful day here in the lower mainland

altered lunchbox

i would have had this finished last night if i had talked less and worked more(lol) i am thrilled with how it came out-I've started a second one for myself as well for the cards i have received(this one is for cards I've made)

i printed off a template for the top and it didn't fit right(our handles were wider apart) so i spent some time today fiddling with a template of my own and i think its a perfect fit(if you are interested in a copy of the template, let me know and i can email it to you)

than A took a tall box i had and he did this one

tasty treat

Apple Brownie with Caramel Icing

Brownie

2/3 cup (175ml) butter or margarine
2 cups (500ml) brown sugar, lightly packed
2 eggs
1 tsp. (5ml) vanilla
2 cups (500ml) flour
½ cup (125ml) chopped nuts (optional)
2 tsp. (10ml) baking powder
¼ tsp. (1ml) salt
1 cup (250ml) chopped apples

Icing

½ cup (125ml) unsalted butter
1 cup (250ml) brown sugar
¼ cup (50ml) milk
2 cups (500ml) icing sugar

First make the brownies. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix well. Measure in the flour, baking powder, salt and nuts and apples, and stir until ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Spread batter in a greased 9 by 13-in. (22 by 33 cm) baking pan and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool completely before icing.

To make the icing, melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the brown sugar and milk and bring the mixture to a boil. Remove from heat, let cool and stir in the icing sugar. Spread onto cooled brownies.

creation of a baby quilt

good thing i started on this today as my cousin went into labour this morning! we already know she's having a boy so just awaiting the *he's here* phone call.

i decided to do a double Irish Chain for this baby quilt. i've never done one of this pattern before. the green safari fabric i bought an embarrassing 9yrs ago(how sad is that? i even bought some in blue with the idea of making A and J each pajama's. instead i got 3 baby quilts out of the blue and this one out of the green. you can see 2 of the blue quilts in my slide to the left)

this afternoon i got the strips cut, sewn together and laid the block out. i should be able to sew them together tonight than start on the second block that completes the chain

wordless wednesday

new stamps

had a few minutes before i had to get M from preschool so i wandered into the scrapbooking store.

Oriental Fantasty

got the rows sewn together tonight, found some backing fabric at Fabricland(60% off! it was my deal day today!)

have to admit, I was surprised by how big it actually is. now I'm wondering where to put it lol!

hoping to get it quilted on Friday. and until Monday, I'm stamping! woo hoo!

happy dancing

on a whim, i went into our local Christian book store. was looking over their 50% off Christmas table when i saw her; a Jim Shore angel. i took her up to the cashier and asked if she really was 1/2 price and she was! perfect addition to my collection!

technical difficulties

got the rows for my Oriental quilt sewn together tonight and was going to take a picture to show you when Pepper decided to *help* lol!

opps....

that's darker than i thought.

not the words you want to hear as your hairdresser is rinsing your head rofl! instead of a color boost, i got a color blast. don't get me wrong, i love it, it's just not what i expected. i went auburn a year or so ago until i went back to my natural color in the spring. the look on Jim's face when i got home was worth it(after he finished measuring my hair length that is lol)

precious baby girl

a friend of mine had a baby girl(Ivy Madelene Ryan. love the name!) last week and i made this quilt for her. will deliver it tomorrow when the boys are all in school so i can get some baby cuddles
