quilt monday

Our piano teacher is very special to us. Shannon is a young adult at our church; does a lot with the youth and the music ministry. I had wanted to make her something for Christmas but didn't have a lot of time and didn't really have an idea of what. Until I asked her what her favorite colour was(teal blue) and I had a light bulb moment remembering some leftover blocks from the graduation quilt in the summer.

I had made two lap quilts from the leftovers so all I had to do was sew the two quilts together. I pulled off one row and sewed it down the side to make it more square and tada!

I had some leftover blocks(still!) so I pieced some backing together and worked those into the middle.

quilted with Bright and Breezy

It lined up almost perfectly. I love how the quilting shows up on the backing.

I bound it with a lovely teal Bella solid.

We gave it to her on Christmas Eve and she actually waited until Christmas to open it(I was dying). I got a very excited text from her that afternoon; she was thrilled and she absolutely loves it. Maybe as much as we love her.

That's lovely Rhonda. You are so thoughtful, and she is one lucky girl. I really like the backing. I love those few squares just to accent the back.
