card class

I took another Christmas card class last week. Figured these were the easiest way to get my Christmas cards done this year; couldn't repeat store-bought cards again this year!

This class was all sewing themed cards; hello, perfection!

Except the cards were a tad more involved than we thought. 3 hours to make 18 cards. Doable right? I think I finished 3 lol!

When I saw this pattern from CluckCluckSew, I tried to resist.

I tried really hard.

But this happened.

The easiest decision was the quilting pattern.

I had to go with pumpkins.

Aren't they cute?

I've been on a real Grunge fabric kick lately; I just can't get enough of it.

And the binding. I had a fun pumpkin print in my stash which was the perfect finishing touch.

Perfection.

Cinnamon Roll Muffins

2 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar
3 tablespoons melted butter, cooled slightly
1 egg
1 cup milk (plus more as needed)

Topping and Filling
1 cup brown sugar, loosely packed
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1½ cups coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
3 tablespoons melted butter

Frosting
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon milk
dash of vanilla

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Generously grease a standard 12 cup muffin tin.
2. In a large bowl, sift together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients until well combined. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the egg mixture, stirring only until just combined.
3. Combine all the topping/filling ingredients. Gently fold half of the mixture into the muffin batter. 4. Spoon the muffin batter, about ¼ cup, into each muffin tin. Top with remaining brown sugar mixture. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes, or until muffins spring back when pressed lightly. Remove from oven. Cool slightly, then transfer carefully to a wire rack
5. Whisk together all of the frosting ingredients. Drizzle over the top of the muffins and enjoy every single delicious bite . . . maybe even lick your fingers when you're done.

I loved doing my pumpkin quilt so much that I may have started another.

Some Christmas gifties.

And the start of a special quilt.

Short and sweet today.

I wanted to make a little giftie for a friend and this was the perfect gift.

I knew the middle fabric was her favourite and sadly I didn't have anymore. But I had a Grunge fabric that matched so I was set.

I kept the quilting simple and ditched the letters and did my favourite waterstitch in the background.

And the red binding?

Perfection!

All in all, I think this took about 2 hours from start to finish.

And now I may have another one to go work on.

Hello, hello!

We had a short school week last week and I totally forgot to blog. Sorry for abandoning you like that. On the plus side, I've been getting lots of sewing time.

My oldest asked for a new quilt last fall. I actually thought it was longer than that, but when I looked up when I first posted the fabrics, I was happy to see that it was January of this year :)

I had seen a quilt in a magazine and he loved it; colours and all.

The only thing he wanted me to change was the pieced section of the quilt was originally designed as being off-centered and he wanted it centered.

I really wanted to highlight the pieced section of the quilt so I straight lined it. I had wanted to really heavily quilt the side panels with leaves, but he wanted stars. I love the texture now that it has been washed.
