quilt monday

I have a two for one for you today.

I made this table runner a few weeks ago with some of the remnants from my Bundle Up quiltie. I just love these fabrics!

I just cut a piece of fabric the size I wanted and added a border. The snowflakes are from an old Quilts and More magazine(I think Winter 2008?).

Don't you love the wavy quilt hanging above? lol
quilted with Winter White.

The second is from some more leftovers and is a little hostess gift for Kim. Kim is hosting our stitchery day today. I had planned on making her a Valentine's Day quiltie but the pattern didn't come in with the rest of my order :(

Sorry for the picture quality; I'm doing this post Sunday night. I should have taken a picture of this little one when it was still daytime.

Tomorrow I'll show how much progress I made with my Birdie blocks. Have a great Monday!

weekend sewing

It's been a great weekend here. The sun came out today(we've had weeks of rain. The sun is most welcome!) I've done lots of baking, lots of laundry and lots of sewing.

I got the quiltie I had mentioned yesterday finished last night.

I had seen this tutorial on Natalia's blog last January. I loved it. When I was at Quilts Canada last spring, I found the panel; I was so excited. And I'll admit that I had forgotten about the panel until I went digging through my quilt kit bin looking for something lol.

It went together really quick. The only trouble I had was getting the panel cut down. It wasn't cut square so I left it bigger than it was supposed to be. As a result, two corners of my pieced squares don't line up right. But I'm okay with that.

I didn't add the wording to the quilt. I prefer it without. Now to get this quilted before Valentine's Day!

temptation

I stopped off at Hamels yesterday to drop off a quilt and ended up leaving with these.

I have 6 baby quilts to make between April and June; these layer cakes are perfect!

I also brought these home.

And are currently cut up and waiting to sew into a cute Valentine's Day quiltie.

Stay tuned.

snack saturday

Key Lime Parfaits

2 cups (500 mL) Cheerios* Cereal
3 tbsp (45 mL) granulated sugar
2 tbsp (25 mL) water
2 tsp (10 mL) butter, melted
1 cup (250 mL) frozen (thawed) fat-free whipped topping
1 tbsp (15 mL) lime juice
2 containers (each 175 g) low fat lemon or lime yogurt

Heat oven to 350ºF. Spray baking sheet and 12x12-inch sheet of foil with nonstick cooking spray. In food processor, place cereal and sugar; process with on-and-off motions until fine crumbs form. Add water and melted butter; process until thoroughly mixed.

Spread cereal mixture evenly in centre of baking sheet. Use foil, sprayed side down, to press cereal mixture slightly; roll with rolling pin into 12x8-inch rectangle, about 1/8 inch thick. With sharp knife, score mixture into 1-inch squares.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until squares are golden brown. Cool completely, about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in small bowl, place whipped topping; fold in lime juice until blended.

Break cereal mixture apart at scored lines. Reserve 4 cereal squares; crumble remaining squares into small pieces. In each dessert bowl or 12-oz parfait glass, layer 1/4 cup crumbled cereal squares, half container of yogurt and scant 1/4 cup whipped topping mixture. Repeat layers. Top each parfait with 2 reserved cereal squares.

I couldn't resist

When I saw Little Miss Shabby post details on a free embroidery of the month block. Just tooooo cute! Even though I am painfully slow at embroidery and it may take me a few months to do just one month's stitching, I signed up.

My jelly roll arrived Tuesday from Green Fairy Quilts(she has fantastic prices and the shipping was pretty quick up here to Canada).

Yesterday I got everything traced out(for January) and am ready to go. I am not going to add the borders to my blocks until I'm done with the stitchery part; it might take me long enough that the pieced border gets warped waiting for me to finish lol.

Monday a few of us are getting together and going to stitch the day away. But I have a feeling some people are already finished this block ;)

Interested in starting? Cick on the button in my sidebar for more info. Next block isn't posted until next week! Come join us!

i can not

Get enough of this penguin! Isn't he cute?

Just a note, I'm getting close to 2000 blog posts(wow!). I may just have a little something in it for you!
