quilt monday
I made this quilt so quickly that I didn't even have a chance to post about it. That's what happens when your favourite niece is leaving for university and at the last minute(5 days before) you decide you ARE actually going to make her a quilt.
A few months ago, I had tossed the idea around of making her one so I had the pattern and I knew what colours/fabrics so that was all good. But could I pull it off?
The pattern is Simply Dashing by Highway 10 Designs.
It was so quick and fun to make.
I love the ombre effect the piecing gives the quilt.
And it was super fast to put together. I think it was two days to cut and piece.
One to quilt and two evenings to do the binding.
I almost did a square in square panto but went with one of my old time favourites, Bright and Breezy.
You can't see it well in the pictures, but the white is actually a tone on tone print of white circles. My niece is on a basketball scholarship and the print reminded me of basketballs.
I don't have purple backing in stock but this flannel print worked well.
I ended up getting the quilt to her a few days before she left. And even better, she had room in her luggage to bring it along.
Happy Monday!
quilt monday
It's another baby quilt today!
I actually have quite a few actual quilts to show you, I just need to get pictures done of them first.
I haven't been making a lot of these lately. I've been busy making lots of quilt gifts and samples for the store and as a result, baby quilts have taken the very far backseat.
I had fun with this baby quilt and used some super bright fabrics and I love how it turned out.
I wish the camera had picked up the colours more.
It was a dark day when I took these, but the colours are so much more vibrant and alive in person.
quilted with Lovely
I quilted it with a bright green thread to match the green fabric.
It really popped on the pink.
Seeing these pictures makes me want to pull some fabric from my stash and start another one.
I used up all my fun flannel kid prints up for the backing.
It's a little crazy but it I felt it worked well with the front.
And in the end, it doesn't matter what the back looks like, it will be very well loved regardless.
Short and sweet today.
Happy Monday!
