quilt monday

Earlier this year, I was asked if I wanted to be a part of a group donating gift baskets to new moms. The idea came about due to covid and new moms feeling lonely and unsupported with quarantine and social distancing guidelines. And Rising Mama Collective was born.

I loved the idea and signed up right away. I love making baby quilts and had quite a few on hand that I donated over. I've been making baby quilts almost weekly since.

This was one quilt I've seen on and off on Pinterest for a few years. I finally decided to go ahead and make a version of my own.

I contacted Erica at Studio39; sent her a picture and fabric requirements and let her do her thing.

 Then I did mine.

Originally I wanted a large lap quilt. But quickly changed my mind to a smaller one to drape over my favourite chair. That meant I had a lot of extra squares and was able to make this second quilt for the Rising Mama Collective.

I had just enough of the dark grey for the binding. I had hoped I could find more of the mustard but none of my local LQS had it and I didn't want to wait for any via the mail.
I'm getting close to the end of my Joanns bolts of baby flannel, I was able to piece enough together to back this one.

If you are local to me and would like to donate to Rising Mama, feel free to send me a message. You won't regret it.

Happy Monday.
