This is the third baby quilt I made from a fat quarter stack of Safari Playground. You can see one of the other quilts here.

I absolutely adore pinwheel baby quilts. So quick to make!
I pieced the some flannels together for the backing.
As usual, I regret not hoarding some of this fabric line.
It makes the perfect baby gift for a boy or a girl.
swaps
I used to do quilting swaps all the time. Recently I've taken part of some that have been posted on Instagram. The latest wa s the Home Sweet Home mini swap.
This was the mini I made.
It turned out super cute. I love the little houses.
I water stitched the entire quilt except for the houses.
This is the quilt I got in return; all the way from Australia.
With Christmas getting close( I heard there is only 13 Saturdays until the big day!!), I am going to take the rest of the year off from swapping. Instead I am going to work on a not so little something that inspired me a few years ago on Instagram.

Could this be any cuter? When my sister in law told me that they were having a boy, this quilt quickly jumped to the top few quilts I wanted to decide between. So I sent Erica a few patterns and had her pick. This was the winner.
Erica was planning the nursery in shades of teal; both blue and green. I picked Kona solids in those shades from the palest to the boldest. The background I couldn't decide on. I actually ended up buying another fabric as well but Boy3 convinced me to go with the bubbles. It was the right choice.
I wanted to keep the quilting simple so I went with what I thought was an appropriate panto called Seaside. The thread; a variegated in blues and greens.
I found a fabulous grey chevron flannel print; soft and snuggly!
Now I need to get this boxed up and mailed off to the cutest nephew ever!

I love how creative she gets with her quilts.

And a great custom quilt.
I did straight lines in the lighter sections of the quilt.
The straight lines created the greatest texture. In the gear section, I did a tight stipple around the applique.

quilt sampler
Back in March, I got a phone call from Hamels Quilt Store that I needed to come in asap that day. When I got to the store, Pauline, the owner, handed me a box and specific instructions.
The box held a very special quilt. It was designed for Hamels for a feature of them in an upcoming Quilt Sampler . The catch? I had 6 hours to quilt the quilt and return it. It needed bound that evening and popped into the mail first thing in the morning.
I adore this quilt. It's all soft and cuddly flannels. And the snowmen-who doesn't love snowmen?
Pauline wanted the quilting simple and no quilting on any of the appliques.
I went with a large snowflake in all the 9-patch blocks and a free-hand meandering star in the border.
Around the snowmen, I did a tight stipple to anchor the shapes down.

hello? anyone out there?? it doesn't matter how prepared I think I am, the first week of school is exhausting!! and the week was over before I even knew it lol.
I did next to no sewing all summer. I had seen this tutorial on Moda Bake Shop and bookmarked it. Over the summer, I saw many of these fabulous star blocks and had to make some for myself.
The first, I bought this charm pack(sorry, I have no idea what line it is except for it being Moda) and made this runner.

The next one I did a little different so it would fit our table lol.
I love how the quilting shows up.

You can't see the binding very well but it's a plaid print; worked perfectly with the fabrics.
Now that school is back, I'm hoping I can get time again to sew!
