jet-lagged

Jim and i are home again; we arrived back to BC at 3am last night/this morning. i'm not really sure what day i'm running on or what time zone lol

this is the update i had planned on posting this morning but there have been a few changes. i'll mention the changes at the end of the post

Peter is doing amazing. we had a meeting with his team yesterday(wednesday) and they explained all what was going on. also got the police report from the accident-Peter was cut off(the front right corner of his car was clipped by the when it did so) Peter swerved, lost control and hit a concrete barrier than bounced back into traffic where he was hit on the passenger door by a semi truck. Peter was the only person injured

today the hospital hopes to start weaning him off the sedation and see if he will start to wake up. they are confident that he should; the dr was saying yesterday they had to really sedated him as he kept trying to get out of bed. he had surgery Tuesday afternoon to release some of the fluid on his brain and to remove a blood clot. no brain tissue was taken. when they brought him back to his room, Sarah was there with Nathan and when Peter heard Nathan cry, he actually tried to get out of bed. the hospital took that as a great sign-as did we.

we were able to spend some time with him yesterday talking to him. that was until his heart rate spiked when I mentioned on Jim's GPS that we brought had a dominating female voice telling us directions lol

if all goes like planned, he could be airlifted back here to Vancouver as early as Wednesday but it sounds like it would be more like 2 weeks or so.

Peter's injuries are the following-there is some damage to his right eye. he is not blind in his right eye(there has been some damage. they aren't sure if it is because the impact on his head was the left side and that has caused the eye problems or if it is just the swelling impacting his optical nerve. the other thought is that the eye socket has cracked enough to impact the nerve. Peter will need some plastic surgery as part of the eye socket is damaged as is his right cheekbone) his lungs are bruised and have a hole in each side from broken ribs. he also broke his sternum.

earlier today, there was a mix-up with Peter's medicine. the result of that was a spike in his brain pressure. he is now back on the right medicine(we understand it was simply where a new bag of medicine wasn't hooked up correctly) they are now watching the brain pressure. today is also the day that the brain pressure should spike and start going down in the next day or so

that is all we have for now. i'll keep you updated and thanx for the prayers and support

Wow! You must be so tired! Make sure you go to bed early tonight and get as much sleep as you can.

Although it sounds like there is lots wrong with Peter it also sounds like there are some good positive steps forward too.

Hugs to you all! :o)
