I jumped the gun on today's Snack Saturday post; I blame the sudden appearance of the sun ;) I had a post I wanted to do last night so I'll do it today instead.

Today(yesterday)was the boys waterslide day


It was cloudy and a little cool when we first arrived, then the sun broke through.


I brought a quilt to bind,


The boys splashed


And played


Then it was time to go home as the park was closing.



I finished my quilt, the boys were waterlogged and pruny. We all had fun!

Double-Lemon Bars


1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
2/3 cup powdered sugar
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
7 tablespoons fresh lemon juice with pulp
1/4 cup finely grated lemon peel (from about 6 large lemons)
1 teaspoon baking powder
Additional powdered sugar


Preheat oven to 350°F. Using electric mixer, beat butter in large bowl until fluffy. Beat in 2/3 cup powdered sugar. Add 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 cup at a time, beating until moist clumps form. Using back of fork, press dough over bottom of nonstick 13x9x2-inch metal baking pan. Bake crust until light golden, about 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, beat 2 cups sugar and eggs in medium bowl until blended. Beat in fresh lemon juice with pulp, lemon peel, and baking powder, then remaining 1/4 cup all purpose flour for filling.

Pour lemon filling over hot crust. Bake until filling is set in center and begins to brown on top, about 20 minutes. Transfer pan to rack and cool completely. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

Cut pastry into 24 bars. Transfer lemon bars to serving platter and dust with additional powdered sugar.

back to work

I've been back to work for 2 weeks now. And I haven't really slowed down. The first 2 days back, I did 5 quilts. Yes, f-i-v-e; insanity!!

did you race today?

I joined in with 1 Choice 4 Quilting and took part of the Jelly Roll Race. I've seen this quilt on a few blogs and was excited to finally get to make one.

I had a jelly roll(Wrapped in Paisley) that I've been waiting to use for something fun and this was it.

In total, this quilt took me about 2 hours and 18 minutes-that is from me undoing the jelly roll to finishing the pressing. And it included 1 playdate drop off, laundry starts/stops and 2 escapes by our cat escape expert. Pretty impressive to finish a quilt that quickly.


I probably should have trimmed up my edges but I'll take care of that after it's quilted

I also got 2 other quilt tops completed;
I used the Geese in the Park pattern from Moda Bake Shop.


I used half of a Pure layer cake and bordered the quilt with some Lily and Will.

A fat quarter stack from Jo-Ann's and some yardage for borders from my LQS and this is almost ready for a baby shower this week.

Lastly, I had to tear off a border on one of my zig zag quilts. I'm embarrassed to say that I ended up cutting just over 2inches of fabric out; that's a lot of fullness!



Now I need to find some *me* time to get this quilted! I love productive weekends like this :)
