back to work

This is my first week back to work after the holidays and after Monday, the last few spots for January quilting were filled.

I love this Vintage Christmas quilt for Hamels quilt store.

The quilt begged to be custom quilted but as most of Hamels quilts are store/class displays, most of the time we are asked to put pantographs on them.

So cute!

My favorite block.

snow day!

Very rarely do we get enough snow in our part of the world to shut things down. We went to bed with the snow falling, all of us dreaming of a snow day.

And our dreams become reality when we woke up. Our little city had the most snowfall in 14yrs(34cm which is just shy of 13.5inches)

Lots of snow!

After playing with the snow outside, I played with some snowflakes inside.

Now we have yucky freezing rain. Tomorrow it's going to be a mess outside!

quilt monday

My final quilt from 2010.

quilted with Bush Berries.

And right after I took this picture, I ripped off the binding and redid it. For some reason I sewed it on with a 1/8th seam? Huh? Must have been tired when I did that one lol!

This is my 54th finished quilt for 2010. That doesn't count the non-quilting things I made(2 fabric wreaths; recorder bags for school). It was a VERY productive year!

surprises

A few years ago, Jim and I were introduced to a couple at our church. To say it was the most awkward introduction ever would be an understatement. I figured we would never ever make it as friends.

Than a simple comment about a book to Kathy, and our friendship took off. Our two families spent lots of time together; we all just hit it right off.

In June, I got a phone call from Kathy with the news that they were moving a province away. My heartbroke. Kathy is like my soul-sister; I miss her every single day.

As they got ready to move; I tossed around the idea of making Kathy and Jeremiah a quilt. I hummed and hah'd. I was digging through my fabric stash in the summer and found the perfect fabric to make them something. A few extra pieces of fabric and I was ready to go.

Kathy and Jeremiah had no idea; I wish I could have been there when the quilt arrived.

It matches their room perfectly; it was truly made with love.
